Officers mess hall chairs

Browsing e bay as I do I came across these chairs.  Recognising them as possible RAF chairs I e mailed the owner and asked if there were any markings to them and hey presto she got back and said there were.  Popping in a bid I won, hurrah and collected them on my way home from Manchester Airport.  The chairs are of a dining room type.  Studded leather or faux leather padding forms the seated sections.  On the underside of the seat body are the usual AM markings.  Also burned into the frame the word ‘sold’ presumably popped on when they were sold from RAF stores/scrappers.  Made by W Birch in 1936. The chairs are all in worn out condition and require some attention to re gluing their joints. Battered and worn they are still lovely chairs and would have looked good in any officers mess or ante room back in the day.
